Intercultural Leadership Seminar is an interactive 6-day program intended to provide participants with a deeper understanding of how to work more effectively in intercultural settings. The seminar design deliberately addresses attitudes, awareness, knowledge and skills as central aspects to developing intercultural competence. Because ILS attracts those who are concerned with cross-cultural issues, this seminar allows participants to have the unique opportunity to engage in intensive dialog with others from diverse backgrounds who share the commitment to increasing their own intercultural competence.
The Intercultural Leadership Seminar is sponsored by the University of Michigan Alumni Association, the College of Engineering, the International Center, and the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs.
This educational experience takes place over Winter Recess (aka. spring break) at the Michigania Retreat & Conference Center. Alumni Association-owned since 1962, Michigania is located in northern Michigan (near Petoskey) on the shore of beautiful Walloon Lake. It is the home of Michigan alumni camping in the summer, and a variety of educational and recreational programs throughout the fall, winter, and spring. With nearly 400 acres of woods and rolling meadows, Michigania provides a superb environment in which to learn and socialize.

While at Intercultural Leadership Seminar you will:
- Develop a cultural knowledge base that one can draw upon to help understand the impact of culture upon leadership and intercultural interactions.
- Develop a lifelong appreciation and respect for cultural differences.
- Develop intercultural leadership skills that value and include cultural differences.
